Conservation areas are important wetland or upland habitats that support waterfowl. They typically provide places for nesting, raising young, and resting during migration. In Lewisporte, there is one protected wetland area that is especially valuable for waterfowl and other wildlife. The Bottom Brook Estuary, located at the southern edge of Lewisporte Harbour, offers excellent feeding and resting habitat for many waterfowl species. Filled with nutrient-rich brackish water, this estuary creates a highly productive environment used by a variety of wildlife.
